BASIC RACE INFORMATION

Downtown Dayton Welcome Stadium: 1601 S Edwin C Moses Blvd, Dayton, OH 45402

The Races: There are two race distances, a Half Marathon(13.1 miles) and a 5K.

Expo: No Saturday Expo for the 2019 event. 

Race Day: Sunday, October 13, 2019. Pick up and late registration available starting at 7:00 a.m. Race starts at 9 a.m. for Half Marathoners & 9:15 for 5Kers. Runners are asked to show up by 8:30 to park and pickup participant race materials.

 

Registration Location: Welcome Stadium - 1601 S Edwin C Moses Blvd, Dayton, OH 45402 on race day from 7:00am to 8:45am.

Registration: Register online or by mail. Participation is limited, however, if spaces remain late registrations can happen in person on October 13, 2019.

Participation Limits: This event is limited to 1000 for the Half Marathon and 500 for the 5K

Costs: Half Marathon: Discounted price of $40 until March 31, $45 until May 31, $50 until July 31, $55 until September 30, $60 thereafter. The 5K: $20.00 until March 31, $22.50 until May 31, $25.00 until July 31, $27.50 until September 30, $30 thereafter.

Scoring: All participants will be issued a race bib with a chip in the bib. Follow the instructions on the bib. Please wear the bib on the front with the number visible. There is no need to return your race bib. Participants will be scored based on chip time except for the overall male and female and wheelchair which will be on "gun" time.

THE COURSE

 

The Course (Map): Flat, fast using city streets and the recreation trail. Miles will be marked. Aid stations and porta-johns will be along the course serve water and Gatorade. The start/finish area will provide water, Gatorade, and medical services.

Important Course Information: The course will be open until 12:45 PM. If you are on the course after that time you may be asked to move off any streets and observe the traffic signals at intersections. The finish line remains open until 1 PM, 4 hours after the half marathon start.

Aid Stations: Water and Gatorade stations will be on the course.

WHAT YOU GET

 

Event Shirts: There is a choice between men's or woman's cut for those registered in either race by September 30, 2019. You will be given the cut and size ordered, so please order carefully. Late registrations may get a shirt based on availability. Exchanges may be available after the race.

Finisher Medal: All finishers in the Half Marathon and 5K receive a commemorative medal at the finish.

Awards: Overall three male and female in the Half Marathon, overall male and female in the 5K and top 3 in age groups for both distances.

New in 2019: Team awards. Top Male Team, Top Female Team, Top Mixed Team.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • Baby Joggers: A good portion of the half marathon race course is on a recreation trail and there will be two way traffic. While baby joggers are permitted you will be responsible to run with caution. There are no limitations on baby joggers in the 5K

  • Pacers: The event will have run pacers on the course to help participants maintain or reach a desired time for the half marathon distance. Pacers will be running with signs at finish times of 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30, & 2:40 

  • Walkers: Race walkers and power walkers should participate only if experienced and able to complete the half marathon distance in under three and a half hours.

  • Wheelchairs: We expect the course to be wheelchair friendly this year.

  • Dogs: Since we will be hosted from a facility that does not allow pets and the race course may be tight in some locations please do not bring your pet.

  • Headphones: These are considered a hazard while running on roadways. We and the USATF discourage you from using them during this event. You must be able to hear instructions from police and course marshals.

  • Post Race Celebration: Join us at Welcome Stadium for food and beverages..

  • The Dayton Amateur Radio Association monitors the course.

  • Medical Services provided by Kettering Sports Medicine Center

  • Ohio River Road Runners Club: ORRRC members receive the $40 early registration discount on their 1/2 Marathon entry price if registered by September 30th. Indicate your membership number on the entry.
